Crystals For Your Tribe, part II

Michelle Worth

If you've read my last blog post, you know that my sister came to me asking for a holistic approach on how to keep her tribe together when she leaves to continue high school abroad after the summer. We spent an afternoon looking at our products and doing a mini-photoshoot, and talked about how crystals are more than just pretty little things. There are crystals that will help with focus and balance, two elements vital to keeping your tribe values rock-hard.

Blue Lace Agate

Much like the soft blue hue of the crystal, Blue Lace Agate promotes peace and tranquility. The key to everlasting friendship is well-known. Maintaining peace between our friends is vital, especially if you are all hot-headed characters (much like my tigress friends and I). If you're the quiet one in your tribe, then this crystal will help your voice be heard as it energies the throat chakra. This crystal helps express your thoughts and feelings verbally.

The nature of this crystal is cooling, so any fevers, inflammation and skin irritation can be soothed. Heat begone!

Our Blue Lace wrist gems come in two sizes, 6MM and 10MM. (Pictured above is the small 6 MM wrist gems)

Lapis Lazuli

The stone of honesty, compassion and morality. One cannot stress anymore the importance of the aforementioned values, especially from an early age. Having a proper compass that points to the right direction is vital to everyone, and Lapis Lazuli is like the magnet that attracts the arrow. This stone bonds relationships, keeping those important to you even closer.

Lapis Lazuli isn't actually a crystal, but a combination of several rock-types such as Pyrite, Calcite and Lazurite.

Labradorite

I am totally biased when it comes to labradorite. It is one of my favourites, and I dare to admit it is because of the gold and blue shine that sometimes blinds you when you play with it in the sun. Looking at the veins that bleed through the stone reminds me of a scene from Avatar, when the forest glows in the dark. This is a stone of perseverance. Becoming attached to a labradorite is easy, and after it becomes your long-term companion on your wrist or in your pocket, it helps aid you reveal the truths behind illusions.

Fears, insecurities, and the feeling of helplessness are all banished by this stone, and replaces them with a calm consciousness. I like to gift Labradorites to friends who have problems with anxiety and sleeplessness. Working in the creative industry, it is plentiful with insomnia and reverse-working hours. I wouldn't want to be the agent who hinders them from medicating, but if I could be a helping hand, a gift of labradorite is the best medicine I can give. Besides, these stones are so pretty and always make me dream of an enchanted forest somewhere, and so have my friends said...

Amethyst

Our afternoon together ended with Amethyst. It is such a powerful and generic stone that for anyone with any ailments or in need of a crystal to lean on, I will always recommend this. It is a protective crystal, against much harm intended on a person. It transmutes the negativity into love, and protects the wearer from harm. Like many of the crystals and stones mentioned in this blog and the first blog, this is a stone for those who lack focus and spiritual awareness.

My sister and I have a big age gap; nevertheless, it has never been an obstacle for us to stay close. As I grew older and having experienced studying abroad, living alone, discovering and losing love, getting hurt and neglected, with no one to lean on except myself, I realised there are many things I wish my sister does not have to experience on her own. She has more conviction and discipline than me, and I know she would fare better than I ever had; therefore, I realised why I chose Amethyst for her tribe. She is my tribe, and I am hers, and so is our family. Keeping each other close being miles apart will not be easy, especially being the secretive person I am, I found it hard to find someone to talk to, or to be reminded of my values.

For our tribe, I choose Amethyst. It is a crystal of sobriety, no doubt temptations will arise, but we hope this crystal can provide not only the power to dispel them but to act as a physical reminder of priorities. It also assist in memories, something that would bring my sister comfort in times of need. Most importantly, it enhances intuition. Being alone out there, you need to be aware of your surroundings, of dark alleys and candy-giving strangers. It is a big bad world, so let's hope the Amethyst crystal can envelope your with positive energies.

The last time my sister and I were apart, I left to study textile and art in Italy. I remember her crying when I left for the airport, and throughout my adventure, I had thought of her every now and then, but very sparsely, I hate to admit! Now as she leaves for her first big adventure, I realise how much I would miss her so-- our roles reversed completely. It is important to keep your inner tribe close to your heart, with or without crystals and other mediums; but they can be kept as a physical reminder of who you are, and where you belong. Like Odin said from Thor 3: Ragnarok, "...home is not a place, its a people." Have a safe trip lil sis!
